SERANG, July 2026 – PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper (IKPP) Serang, one of APP Group’s business units, has been recognized by the Serang Regency Government for its commitment to supporting community-based waste management. During the peak celebration of the 2026 World Environment Day at the Serang Regency level on Thursday (July 30), IKPP Serang received the Waste Bank Support Award.
The award was presented directly by the Deputy Regent of Serang, M. Najib Hamas, accompanied by Sarudin, Head of the Serang Regency Environmental Agency (DLH). The recognition was granted in appreciation of IKPP Serang’s contribution to strengthening waste management efforts through the development and empowerment of Waste Banks across Serang Regency.
IKPP Serang’s support is carried out through collaboration with local government and communities to promote waste management practices that not only focus on reducing waste generation but also create value through the implementation of circular economy principles.
One example of this collaboration is providing Waste Banks with direct access to channel sorted paper waste to IKPP Serang. To facilitate the collection and transportation process, the company also provides pickup services using its operational fleet.
This facility helps Waste Bank operators optimize the collection of paper waste while ensuring that sorted materials can be further utilized as recyclable raw materials.
These efforts have shown positive progress. As of July 2026, a total of 518.54 tons of paper waste had been delivered by various Waste Banks to IKPP Serang. This volume continues to increase month by month, reflecting growing community participation in waste sorting and responsible waste management at the source.
In addition to building partnerships with Waste Banks, IKPP Serang also collaborates closely with the Serang Regency Environmental Agency (DLH) in conducting waste management awareness and educational programs across various districts.
These activities are intended to enhance public understanding and encourage greater community participation in responsible waste management, while also supporting the establishment of new Waste Banks at the village level.
The collaboration among local government, the company, Waste Bank operators, and the community is expected to strengthen waste management efforts from the source. As more waste is sorted and recycled, the volume of waste ending up at final disposal sites can continue to be reduced.
The award received by IKPP Serang serves as an encouragement to further strengthen collaboration and expand the benefits of community-based waste management. As part of APP Group, IKPP Serang remains committed to supporting sustainable development through various social and environmental initiatives, including environmental conservation, community empowerment, and the implementation of circular economy principles that create lasting benefits for both the environment and local communities.
